The Viken Group has acquired Thalia Marine, which will allow TDoS to collaborate with the Italian design firm
Tillberg Design of Sweden (TDoS) has created a new parent company named Viken Group, which will provide a full range of design, naval architecture and project management services for the maritime industry.
The Viken group has acquired the Italian naval design and architecture company Thalia Marine, which will assist it in the technical management of the project, studies and consultancy.
Thalia Marine is based in Trieste, Italy, and counts Carnival Cruise Line, Silversea Cruises, Swan Hellenic, Virgin Voyages, Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute and Fincantieri among its customers.
“We are delighted to welcome Thalia Marine and her employees to the Viken Group,” said Stefan Nilsson, CEO of the Viken Group. “Together we will be able to provide our clients with the best and most comprehensive services, including naval architecture, design, quantity surveying, technical advice, on-site inspections and much more.”
TDoS and Thalia Marine will continue to operate independently of each other but will collaborate under the umbrella of the Viken group for certain projects.
“My connection with TDoS dates back to 1994 when, as a junior naval architect, I worked with them on the design of the Costa Victoria,” said Maurizio Eliseo, CEO and Partner of Thalia Marine. “Since then, we have cooperated on many ambitious projects and achieved excellent results. Thalia is a small family, but made up of highly specialized architects, engineers and surveyors. Thanks to this strong partnership with our dear friends at TDoS and the Viken Group, we now look forward to an even brighter future that will not only benefit us, but our valued customers as well.
Madelene Hall, CEO of TDoS, said, “The creation of Viken Group will greatly benefit TDoS and our customers. We will continue to focus on our core business, which is design, while being able to offer our customers a full service concept through acquisitions and partnerships within the Viken Group.
