Royal Caribbean buys Crystal liner for $275 million

By Elaine Briseño (July 18, 2022, 4:59 p.m. EDT) — Royal Caribbean Group announced Monday that it is buying the luxury cruise ship Crystal Endeavor from closed Crystal Cruises for $275 million.

The company has announced that it will rename the ship Silver Endeavor and add it to the Silversea Cruises fleet. The ship is designed for polar voyages, and its maiden voyage under that name will be to Antarctica in November.

“The expedition cruise industry is poised to resume accelerated growth driven by demand from high-end and affluent customers for voyages to remote and hard-to-reach destinations,” said Roberto Martinoli, President and chief executive of Silversea Cruises, a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean, said in a statement….
