HOUSTON, June 6, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Former professional boxing champion Maurice “TERMITE” Watkins has signed an exclusive management agreement with talent management firm Liner Entertainment Group Inc in Houston, TX.

Maurice “Termite” Watkins is a former boxer from Houston, Texas. Nicknamed termiteshe was born into a family that worked in the field of insect control and he is a professional fumigator.

Watkins turned professional as a boxer May 21, 1974flying Cesar Cortez by KO in the first round Houston. Throughout his career, Watkins has fought some of the best fighters in the lightweight and junior welterweight divisions.

Maurice “Termite” Watkins has always loved a good fight. With a nickname like Termite and being a skinny little kid, he was given plenty of opportunities. From the age of 10 his passion was to be a champion. He achieved this dream on several occasions by becoming the first national Golden Gloves champion at 16 (with an amateur record of 128 wins and 10 losses), becoming a professional boxer (with a record of 58 wins, 5 losses, 2 draws and 48 KOs), and concluding his career with a fight for the coveted world title!

After the 9/11 attacks, Termite felt an overwhelming desire to help our military—he believed it was a call from God—to serve his country. He asked what he could do for his country. The surprising answer was pest control, the trade he had learned from his father as a child. The coalition needed someone to step into Iraq to rid the military camps of snakes, scorpions and insects so that Termite moves towards Iraq.

Through a series of events, he was soon invited to coach and qualify the Iraqi boxing team for the 2004 Olympics. He inspired the world and will inspire you too, with his story of incredible perseverance overcoming obstacles fearsome as he helped Iraq achieve their Olympic dreams!

After the Olympics, Termite returned to Houston and relative normalcy: working a day job and continuing to train local boxers in his personal gym. Life remained rather calm. Then came the COVID-19 pandemic and a business trip to dallas beginning of March, and all of a sudden everything stopped… With the grace of God, Termite recovered and continued to work.

In addition to guiding children today, he continues to inspire and motivate through speaking engagements across the country.

Termites have fought for world championships, fought addiction, beaten COVID-19, and even trained Iraqi boxers for the Olympics. by Sylvester Stallone production company, Balboa Productions, and they are making a feature film focusing on Termite’s life. The script is currently being written. Release date and time TBD…so stay tuned.
